ParTecK 2025 Retreat

Greetings ParTecKians!

This year, we'll be returning to enchanting Smith Lake Farm in Merville (Comox Valley) on Vancouver Island and have booked the entire retreat space Thursday July 17th through Sunday July 20th, 2025.

We love Smith Lake Farm! Situated between forest and lake, the farm, the animals, and the host family are a delight to experience. https://www.smithlakefarm.com/

Play and magic are welcome and encouraged throughout the weekend as we explore through various structured and unstructured emergent ideas, conversations and processes. See the Q&A section below to get a feel for how this is coming together.

There has been some preliminary conversation and energy towards a family friendly ParTecK for this coming summer. We are envisioning two streams of process, one involving programming for kids, the other for adults, with some shared collective time and space for all ages.

Are you interested in attending and/or would like to be involved in the planning of the retreat? We would love to hear from you! Here is our expression of interest form, please respond by February 28th: https://forms.gle/QX5Zws12myNDK7Lt9

Pricing:
  • Whole glamping tent: $300 for three nights (this is a $200 reduction in price)
  • Spot in a glamping tent: $50 per night
  • Tenting / RV site: $25 per night - if you need your own space, this might be the best option for you
  • We have bursaries available for those who need it.

As space is limited on site to 6 private glamping tents and 10 separate tenting sites, initial deposits of $50 CAD are asked to hold a space for you and family or friends that will be attending. Deposits can be sent to carissakazyss(at)gmail.com by February 28, 2025.

We look forward to hearing from you and engaging in this next level of ParTecK play together.

Q&A

What is the purpose and theme of the retreat?
The retreat is an opportunity to come into alignment with the ParTecK community. It is also a place to practice co-design, emergent conversations, and to prototype new ways of coming together. Themes do tend to surface as we get closer to the retreat, or even at the retreat. The venue itself offers nature and place-based themes. We are also exploring activities that touch on community, local land and culture, leadership, food, and technology (AI, web3, bitcoin, big data...).

Will I need to participate the whole time? If people need space to participate, that is fine. So don't worry about getting peopled out! There is lots of space for people to take care of themselves within the bigger context of the retreat.

What is the food situation? Funds received will help a collective food kitchen. Everyone coming will be asked to participate with the food in some way, whether selecting a theme, gathering ingredients, kitchen organization, being part of the cooking, and clean up.

Can I book a whole tent just for me? We appreciate the need for alone time, and we also want to accommodate as many people as we can. You'll be helping us out by if you can have 3 or more people in your tent.

Can I come for some of the time? This is a three-night event by design, and we’d still love to see you if you can only join for some of the retreat. If this is the case, please reach out to Carissa or whoever you are connected with to discuss what that could look like logistics- and cost-wise.
